UTV Camping

Many of the best side by side trails are a long drive from home. You spend all day driving, get to hit the trails for an hour, then spend all evening driving home. There’s a much better way to enjoy those routes – camping withĀ UTVs. You can tackle the off-road tracks by day, curl up under the stars at night, and repeat the next day. It’s a great way to spend a weekend (or your next vacation). But before you take your side x side camping, check out the following tips on making your trip as smooth and successful as possible. If your vehicle needs any maintenance before your next trip, visit Family Powersports San Angelo. You’ll find us in San Angelo, Texas.

Plan Your Trip

Just like any other camping trip, you’ll need to spend some time planning your adventure. A great place to start is by picking the side by side trails you want to conquer. You can also look for tourist attractions along the way (or near the site). Once you build your list of destination spots, you can search for a campsite in a convenient location. Try to book your site early if you can. Many of the best campsites fill up weeks (or even months) in advance. Plus, you can often get a discount if you book early.

As you’re planning your side x side camping trip, don’t forget to account for the weather. After all, UTVs are meant to explore the outdoors! You don’t want to book a trip when it’s going to be hailing, storming, or unbearably hot. Glance at the weather forecast before booking your trip.

Getting Your Side by Side Ready

When you plan an entire trip around your UTV, you’ll want to make sure it’s fully operational and can handle the rigors of the ride. You don’t want to encounter a mechanical issue that derails your trip. No one wants to spend their camping trip waiting in a mechanic’s office!

Before you take your side by side camping, do a pre-ride inspection. Look for any issues that could manifest during your trip and get them fixed as soon as possible. Check that your lights are all visible and bright. Check your fluid levels and top off anything that’s low. Make sure your tires are at the right air pressure and have enough tread. Take your side x side for a short test ride and make sure braking, accelerating, and turning go as normal.

Picking Your Campsite

Think about what amenities you need. Some people can’t imagine camping without power, while others prefer “roughing it” as much as possible. Make a list of your must-haves and find a site that accommodates them.

When you arrive at the campsite, be choosy about where you set up shop. Look for a flat spot of course. But also look for somewhere that is far enough away from other people (so you won’t be disturbed by noise) but not too far in the woods (to avoid animal encounters). Once you set up your site, you can hit the trails!
